PM Housing Finishing Work Draws Principal Secretary’s Attention; 15-Day Deadline for Corrections

Sonmani Bora inspects PM Housing and PM E-Bus projects in Bilaspur; 50 AC electric buses to operate on 12 routes


Bilaspur, October 6, 2026: Principal Secretary of the Urban Administration and Development Department Sonmani Bora inspected the ongoing works under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and PM E-Bus Sewa in Bilaspur on Tuesday, reviewing both construction progress and quality.

During his inspection at Sakri, Bora expressed displeasure over incomplete finishing work in some of the houses constructed under the PM Housing Scheme and directed officials and construction agencies to rectify the shortcomings at the earliest. He instructed the concerned teams to accelerate the remaining work and said that the progress would be reviewed again after 15 days.

Incomplete flooring and finishing work flagged

At Sakri, the Principal Secretary inspected houses constructed under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component of the PM Housing Scheme.

During the inspection, floor tiling was found incomplete in some units, while finishing work was also pending. Bora directed municipal engineers and construction agencies to immediately address the deficiencies and complete the remaining work.

He also sought details from officials regarding the size of kitchen platforms, the construction materials being used and the progress achieved so far.

A total of 261 houses have been constructed at Sakri at a cost of approximately ₹11.75 crore. The project is currently in its final finishing stage.

Boundary wall, cleanliness and children’s play area

Bora directed officials to prepare a proposal for construction of a boundary wall around the housing complex.

He also instructed officials to ensure proper cleanliness, provide seating arrangements for residents and develop a dedicated play area for children.

The Principal Secretary directed the authorities to speed up the remaining works and announced that the progress would be reviewed again after 15 days.

Bora subsequently inspected the construction of the PM E-Bus Sewa terminal complex, sub-station and charging station at the City Bus Depot in Koni.

He reviewed the progress of the construction works and directed officials to organise bus stops properly and install display boards to provide passengers with information on bus timings and routes.

Under the PM E-Bus Sewa, Bilaspur will get 50 air-conditioned electric buses, including:

  • 35 buses of 9-metre length
  • 15 buses of 7-metre length

The buses will operate on 12 routes across the city.

The routes are being planned keeping in mind connectivity to schools, colleges, industrial and commercial areas, tourist destinations and the High Court, ensuring convenient public transport access for residents.

₹11.45 crore infrastructure project

An amount of ₹11.45 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the terminal complex, sub-station and charging station at the Koni City Bus Depot.

The allocation includes:

  • ₹8.37 crore for civil infrastructure
  • ₹1.59 crore for the sub-station
  • ₹1.49 crore for the high-voltage electricity connection

According to officials, around 70% of the civil infrastructure work and nearly 80% of the sub-station work have been completed.

The infrastructure required for the high-voltage electricity connection will be developed by CSPDCL.

Cafeteria and night shelter planned

A cafeteria and night shelter are also planned at the terminal complex for the convenience of passengers.

Once completed, the PM E-Bus infrastructure is expected to strengthen Bilaspur’s public transport network and provide residents with a cleaner and more convenient urban mobility option.
